    December 9, 2003: Linda's shooting a new movie!
Finally Linda is shooting a new movie these days! It's called "The Woodcutter", and principal photography began November 17 in Vancouver, Canada.
The movie marks the feature film directing debut of Gabrielle Savage Dockterman and is based on writer Ken Miller's experiences in the Vietnam War. Miller penned the script along with Savage Dockterman and Nancy L. Babine.
The film, being produced by Isen Robbins and Aimee Schoof, stars Danny Glover as a Vietnam veteran, haunted by memories of lives lost under his command, who has lived in self-imposed exile in the rain forest of the Pacific Northwest for more than 30 years. A former member of his platoon mysteriously appears at his remote cabin, only to vanish overnight, leaving behind his 9-year-old daughter, whom Glover has no choice but to care for.
Besides Linda there's also Ron Perlman playing in this movie. So "Beauty" and the "Beast" are finally reunited again - even in different roles - after almost 16 years! :)

    THE WOODCUTTER Begins Shooting

The Woodcutter, a powerful contemporary drama starring Danny Glover, Linda Hamilton, David Strathairn, Ron Perlman and introducing Zoe Weizenbaum, begins principal photography November 17th in Vancouver, British Columbia.

A co-production of Angel Devil Productions and Intrinsic Value, the film marks the feature film directing debut of Gabrielle Savage Dockterman, an award-winning producer, director and writer of interactive video and television projects. Isen Robbins and Aimee Schoof, partners in the New York-based production company, Intrinsic Value, are the producers. The screenplay by Ken Miller & Gabrielle Savage Dockterman & Nancy L. Babine is based on an original story by Miller, shaped by events from Miller's experiences in the Vietnam War and the internal struggle that followed.

Glover stars as Jake Neeley, a Vietnam veteran haunted by memories of lives lost under his command, who has lived in self-imposed exile in the rain forest of the Pacific Northwest for more than thirty years. A former member of his platoon (David Strathairn) mysteriously appears at his remote cabin, only to vanish overnight, leaving behind his nine-year-old daughter. Jake has no choice but to care for the child.

Linda Hamilton plays a feisty, widowed storekeeper who is the woodcutter's sole contact with the outside world. Sparks fly when she sees a new side of Jake as he is transformed by his relationship with the child. Ron Perlman portrays a badly scarred, deranged "bush vet" the little girl attempts to befriend.

Zoe Weizenbaum makes her screen debut as "Lenny", the spirited Amerasian youngster whose presence unearths long-buried emotions in Jake, leading him on an unexpected journey to healing.

Director Gabrielle Savage Dockterman has spearheaded the use of interactive media in projects for the Smithsonian Institution, the National Science Foundation, the U.S. Department of Education and others. "Rainforest Researchers," which took her to a jungle island off the coast of Sumatra to document primitive remedies now being used in cancer research, won the prestigious Codie Award, the ITVA Golden Reel, the Technology and Learning Award of Excellence, the NewMedia Invision Award and a Parents' Choice Award. "The Great Solar System Rescue," an interactive video adventure, was a New York Film Festival award winner, while her series, "Minds-On Science" is on permanent display at the National Museum of American History.

Producers Isen Robbins and Aimee Schoof have produced, co-produced and/or packaged fourteen independent feature films through Intrinsic Value including the Sundance Film Festival contenders, "XX/XY" starring Mark Ruffalo and Kathleen Robertson (released by IFC and MGM Home Video), "The Hebrew Hammer" (Strand Releasing and the Comedy Channel), "Beyond the Ocean" and "Te Amo." Intrinsic Value's "Death of a Dynasty" is a 2003 Tribeca Film Festival premiere, while "Anything But Love," starring Andrew McCarthy, Isabel Rose, Cameron Bancroft and Eartha Kitt will be released this month by the Samuel Goldwyn Company. Recently completed are "Brother to Brother" and "Satan's Little Helper" starring Amanda Plummer.

Ron McLeod and Blake Corbet (of Canada's Anagram Pictures) are co-producers of The Woodcutter. Ken Kelsch ASC ("Big Night," "Bad Lieutenant") is the cinematographer and Katterina Keith ("Control," "Stealing Sinatra") the production designer. Casting is by Adrienne Stern (New York) with additional casting by Aikins/Cossey Casting (Vancouver) and NewVoices/New Visions (Boston). Two-time Emmy nominee Sheldon Mirowitz will compose the original musical score.

Review: Hm, for those who don't have the "Ultimate Edition" it's nice, for those who have the "Ultimate Edition" it's ok. The original "theatrical edition" and the classic "special edition" are included. To be honest: a 30 min "documentary" on special effects and a few minutes "T2: On the Set" is not very much for a lot of money... but for real Linda fans it's kind of a "must have" as in "T2: On the Set" there are some cool and lovely Linda moments :)

    [...]
On the stage and screen, Hamilton is an icon of feminine beauty, physical strength and psychological fortitude. Whether she appears in blockbuster films or independents, in psychological thrillers or romantic comedies, her acting resonates with intelligence and compassion. Best known for her performances the critically acclaimed Terminator movies, Hamilton has a deep connection to the Eastern Shore and to Chestertown. Born in Salisbury, Hamilton began acting at an early age, inspired by her parents’ love for the arts. "My mother took some of her fake costume jewelry apart and made a crown for me. I swear I found myself. I’ll never forget the joy of that crown," she recalled from a childhood appearance as Sleeping Beauty. From those early experiences, she says, "acting decided to have its way with me. I loved it; I always loved it."
After graduating high school in 1974, Hamilton enrolled in two acting classes at Washington College, where she performed in student productions and became involved with the Kent Players, a community theatre group. After two years, she decided to go to New York where she joined the famous Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute and studied Method Acting. After appearing in numerous student stage productions, she made her professional debut with a small role on the daytime television drama Search for Tomorrow. In 1979 she moved to California to pursue screen and television acting and got her first big break in 1984, when she played the part of Sarah Connor in James Cameron’s The Terminator. From 1987 to 1989, she came to fame as Catherine Chandler in the popular television drama Beauty and the Beast. The show earned her Emmy, Golden Globe, and People’s Choice Awards nominations, and in 1989, Hamilton returned to Washington College to receive an Alumni Citation at the College’s 207th Commencement.
In 1990, Hamilton reprised her role as Sarah Connor in Terminator 2, and since has appeared in several movies for both screen and television, including A Mother’s Prayer (1995), for which she received a Cable Ace Award and a Golden Globe nomination, Dante’s Peak (1997) -- earning her a Blockbuster Award -- and the 1999 drama The Color of Courage for which she garnered a 2000 Golden Satellite Award.
Hamilton’s latest projects include stage as well as screen, appearing in Final Questions, a play by Blanche Roberts, and in Lou Shaw’s Worse Than Murder, Ethel and Julius Rosenberg. Between her stage projects she shot the short film Wholey Moses, which debuted this past February, and the television movie Silent Night, which aired in December. Currently, Hamilton and her children live in Malibu, CA.

March 5, 2003: Stephan Paternot on the L.A. Premiere of "Wholey Moses"
    Happy March to all!

We just got back from the west coast, and are very happy to say the Los Angeles Premiere of Wholey Moses went without a hitch. Thanks to all those who made it out for the premiere, feedback to the screening was positive and the vodka flowed freely at the after-party....maybe the liquor had something to do with the enthusiastic feedback :) We're pleased to say that several of the top tier short film distributors have shown interest in helping us distribute the film. Although we haven't decided yet what step to take next with our film, we do intend to put it on the festival circuit during 2003.
Additionally, we have done some private screenings for some of the larger production/distribution companies, as well as independent producers both in N.Y. and L.A., and they've all expressed interest in our next projects. [...]

Here's a little mention in Variety about the event....

    Pregnant pause at 'Wholey' preem
'Terminator's' Hamilton not the superstar type

    By VARIETY STAFF
    March 5th, 2003

The very pregnant Shannyn Sossamon and co-star Linda Hamilton bonded at the L.A. preem of "Wholey Moses" Thursday night.

Hamilton has made much bigger-budgeted fare -- think "Terminator 2" -- but said she's "so much more the velveteen rabbit kind of actress than the huge star." The indie short also stars Stephan Paternot, a dot-com whiz turned thesp, who views the role as his "mezzanine round before the IPO" of a big picture.

Thanks again, see you at the next Premiere :)
